SATURDAY NIGHT CABARET:

Your $50 weekend pass also admits you to the Saturday Evening Steampunk Cabaret Burlesque (19+), a dance party to the haunted gypsy folk antics of The Tailor and the boisterous Bučan Bučan, with a delicious burlesque presentation by the lovely Cherry Poppins.

The first thing you notice in the music by The Tailor is the texture, it's sensual, wound with found sounds swept from a dusty floor.

One part porch rocking chair stomp, one part strange blues, one part dream folk, he has toured both acoustic main stages and underground electronic music festivals.

Some highlights are the Shambala festival in Canada, the Fusion festival in Berlin and various folk festivals across North America.

The Tailor is the main musical project of Tarran Gabriel, a man from the westcoast of Canada. He has released 3 albums and one Ep.

The new album *The Salt* is an ocean fairy tale, about a man who leaves to cross the sea and a begin a new life for his family, but goes down in a storm, and can only return after a long dance with the siren queen.

It blends elements of Balkan Beat, orchestral folk, and ambient sound, into a dark blue sea of an album.

. . . from Bučanistan, Bučan Bučan (pronounced loudly as "booCHAN booCHAN") is an ensemble of musicians, inspired by Eastern European brass band traditions. Bučan Bučan puts a modern spin on traditional Balkan music, with spontaneous, theatrical performances that are not to be missed!

Made up of nine musicians, each having their own unique musical performance background, ensembles and projects, and together they bring a wonderful spirit to the group! Bučan Bučan's instrumentation includes percussion, accordion, stroh violin, tuba, euphonium, baritone, trombone and trumpet.

This high energy is often seen moving around a venue while performing, making use of the different features and situations of any given performance space, giving the audience a great up-close and personal experience with live music.

Cherry Poppins has been performing burlesque for four and a half years. She was first a member of the Cheesecake Burlesque Revue and last year decided to go solo to pursue different styles of burlesque and more alternative events.

A comedian and musician in Victoria, Jacqueline McLaughlin, has dubbed her "Victoria's firecracker" with numbers that range from sultry and sexy to comedic and cute. A Steampunk enthusiast, Ms. Poppins is putting together 2 numbers geared towards the VSE.
