Held at the historic Fairmont Empress hotel, the Victoria Steam Expo was a creature all its own. Loose, open-ended, informal, and intended as a culture-hack in itself, it wasn't a convention at all. It was more a gathering of similarly weird-minded people. A weekend salon, in the the old cultural sense of the word. A contemporary bohemian gathering.
